Community
Consolidated School District 15
Community
Consolidated School District 15, the second largest
elementary district in Illinois, serves a diverse
population nearly 13,000 of elementary and junior high
school students from all or part of seven
communities:
Palatine, Rolling Meadows, Hoffman Estates, Inverness,
South Barrington, Arlington Heights, and Schaumburg. There
are 20 schools within the district: 15 kindergarten
through sixth grade, four junior highs (seventh and eighth
grades), and one alternative school.
The
mission of District 15 is: "To produce world-class
learners by building a connected learning
community."
One of the key goals established by the Board of Education
is “world-class student achievement in communications
skills, reading, social skills, problem-solving skills,
technology literacy, life skills, and mathematics.”
Schools, teachers, administrators, and support staff all
work together to ensure that all of the all students
enrolled in district schools receive educational
opportunities of the highest quality. The curriculum
across the district is carefully aligned to state academic
standards and to the district’s challenging student
performance targets.
In
2003, District 15 became only the third school district in
the U.S. to win the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality
Award, the nation's highest honor for quality and
performance excellence. In addition, seven of the
district's schools have been individually recognized with
the U.S. Department of Education’s Blue Ribbon Schools
designation.
Student
success is enhanced by community involvement. District
15’s connected learning community includes parents and
other community members, PTAs and PTSAs, senior citizens,
area businesses, service organizations, and local
governments. In the past school year, more than 12,973
volunteers contributed nearly 161,000 hours of service in
the schools.
Private
& Parochial Schools
A number
of private and parochial schools service the Palatine area,
including Catholic schools St. Thomas of Villanova School
(www.stov.org) and St. Theresa School and Immanuel Lutheran School
(www.ilcp.org). Quest Academy (www.questacademy.org) is an accredited independent day school for
gifted and talented students from preschool to eighth grade,
educating children from over 40 Chicago area communities.
